Our client is an established software company building operations and booking software for the spa and hospitality industry. This role sits on the leadership team, reports to the President and works closely with senior leaders across the business.
About the role
Our client is looking for a hands-on engineering leader to guide its core product team through an AI transformation. You will lead and grow the team, set technical direction, and still write code on select projects. The right person pairs strong technical depth with the courage to have honest conversations and a real commitment to helping every developer learn and grow.
What you'll do
- Lead and mentor a team of developers on best practices, technical challenges and professional growth
- Develop and deliver a roadmap for bringing AI into development processes, tools and products
- Find where AI can improve efficiency, from code generation to predictive analytics and DevOps workflows
- Drive technical strategy and architecture decisions
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from planning and architecture through testing, deployment and maintenance
- Work with stakeholders to define scope, set timelines and keep delivery aligned with business goals
- Write code on selected projects and contribute to the codebase when needed
- Raise the bar on engineering practices, code quality and delivery processes
- Keep the platform stable and fast, reducing downtime and response times
- Take part in hiring, onboarding, performance management and career development for your team
What you bring
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful time managing engineering teams
- Hands-on experience with .NET, React, Node.js, MS SQL and AWS, or similar technologies
- Hands-on coding within the last year, and happy to take on individual coding work
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) and microservices architecture
- A strong understanding of AI and data-driven development, including integrating AI into products or workflows
- A track record of leading change, upskilling teams and building a culture of innovation
- Experience in environments where scalability, performance and uptime matter
- Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
