My client, a growing hospitality technology company, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Development to lead their core product engineering team. This leader will drive project execution, foster team growth, and contribute technically to select coding projects.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with proven leadership skills, excelling in a hands-on environment while promoting collaboration and creative problem-solving. This is a member of the senior leadership team, working closely with other leaders to build a strong, cohesive, and strategically aligned organization.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and mentor a team of developers, providing guidance on best practices and technical challenges.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to design, develop, and deploy high-quality software products.
- Work with stakeholders to define project scope, set timelines, and align delivery with business goals.
- Drive technical strategy and architecture decisions.
- Perform hands-on coding for selected projects.
- Establish and improve engineering practices, code quality standards, and delivery processes.
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from planning through deployment and maintenance.
- Develop and execute a roadmap for incorporating AI into existing development processes and tools.
- Participate in hiring, performance management, and career development for the team.
What You Bring:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful time managing engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience with .NET, React, Node.js, MS SQL, and AWS or similar technologies.
- Hands-on coding experience within the last year.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of building productive engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical topics clearly to any audience.
- Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture.
- Strong understanding of AI-driven development practices and experience integrating AI into products or workflows.
